We started the 2005 year at Beech Bend Park Raceway in Bowling Green, KY with the “Bladerunner” in late March. That weekend we won 70 plus percent of our races. Everyone knew the Cheese Heads were in town.
Besides participating in the 2005 IHRA Summit Championship E.T. Program at Byron Dragway with the “Bladerunner”, we finished a new race car “The Spirit of Ellis” which competed in the 2005 IHRA Top Dragster class in the Division 5 Championship Series races at Bryon Dragway and Cordova Dragway Park.
Both cars are powered by 555 cuic inch big block Chevys. “The Spirit of Ellis” chassis was hand built using Ellis products and is set up to utilize nitrous oxide for a horse power booster putting total horse power at about 1250. The “Bladerunner” is a 238 inch four-link dragster built by Danny Nelson Racecraft using Methanol as a primary fuel putting maximum horse power at about 950.
We closed the year by participating at the Brandenton Motorsports Park Five Day Race at Bradenton, FL and the Moroso Motorsports Park Five Day Race at Palm Beach Gardens, FL. These two races are exciting because we had the opportunity to compete against the best amateurs and didn’t put the car in the winners circle, we had a great time competing against some of Ellis’ customers. Most of the race car manufacturers at this race use the Ellis product line in their facilities.
